I am blessed with an incredible opportunity to volunteer abroad in Vietnam at a special needs center for children with disabilities. I will be serving in Hanoi, Vietnam for 3 months from February until May. This country and this mission have been on my heart as a place to serve, support, and love.
I would like to ask for your support as I embark on this adventure!
While in Vietnam, I will be working at the special needs clinic and orphanage, Phuc Tau, which also houses many abandoned and disabled children. There are over 120 children at Phuc Tau and over 150,000 children in Vietnam afflicted with physical and cognitive disabilities. Vietnam has one of the highest disability rates in the world as a result of decades of war and environmental contamination from the use of defoliants. The country's lack of infrastructure prevents adequate care programs, and the potent stigma against disabilities has resulted in many children being neglected, isolated, and abandoned.
I hope to use my experience providing instruction and physical development for teens with disabilities in UCLA Adaptive Recreation Programs to assist local staff in Vietnam. At Phuc Tau, I will be providing rehabilitation for the disabled, care for orphaned children, and education through teaching English. I am eager to share my knowledge and give my time to support the center through service.

I am in need of raising $3,800 to help with airfare, visas, and funds for the host families for my 12 week stay in Vietnam. Any additional money raised will be donated for purchase of supplies and teaching material directly for the orphanage and special needs center.
Most of all, I ask that you please support me in prayer. Please pray that I can demonstrate love through service, and that I would encounter the heart of these communities through the eyes of the poor and the broken.
