Hello!
My name is Jahsarah Williamson and I am an Environmental Health student at Baylor University. As a low-income student from the Bronx, it has been a privilege for me to study at this institution. I hope to one day be able to give back not only to my mother, who has sacrificed so much for me but also to the communities that have helped me make it this far.
I was recently accepted into a study abroad program that will allow me to pursue my goals of learning about urban, upland, estuarine, and marine environments. I will also learn about the different approaches to environmental management and planning and how such plans affect human health.
Through this program, I will be able to receive class credit in Hong Kong along side fellow Baylor undergraduates and undergraduates from several Asian universities. The trip is during winter break, December 26 to January 9. However, this trip will not be possible without a lot of sacrifices. I am receiving some financial-aid through my school, but it is not able to cover all of the expenses for this trip. My tuition for the class is covered, but various travel expenses including airfare, lodging, meals, and metro costs are not.
This is why I am turning to you -- my family members, friends, and communities who have supported my journey and growth for so many years. With your continued support and contribution, whatever it may be, I will be able to cover my various expenses.
I do not know if this opportunity will ever become available to me again, so please help make this opportunity possible! Anything helps!
