Treatment for FND

Hello!
My name is Sarah and I have been diagnosed with a Functional Neurological Disorder with Non Epileptic Attack Disorder.

It all started in November 2018, where I blacked out at a bonfire display. From November to the beginning of January, I was suffering with really bad headaches, numbness in my left side of my body and tiredness.

In January 2019, I blacked out and (we think) banged my head against the kitchen floor. The following day I blacked out behind the steering wheel, and was taken to AnE. They found nothing wrong with me. From then to 17th January I was passing out at least 15 times a day, and no one could wake me up from it. On 17th January 2019, I had my first seizure to which I lost the ability to talk and walk. This was when I was diagnosed with Non Epileptic Attack Disorder. I was hospitalised for 3 days.

From then till March, my family and I was paying for 1 session with a neurologist for him to say that I had a Functional Neurological Disorder alongside my NEAD. He referred me to a neuro-psychologist where he confirmed the diagnosis, and added that I needed to be treated within the next 6 months to be able to reverse my FND.

This brings us to now. I am still waiting for an appointment with CBT and an FND clinic but there is an 18month waiting list for both. I haven’t received any treatment whilst waiting for the appointments, and unfortunately my condition is getting worse since a bereavement in the family set my FND back to square 1. I have 4 months to get treatment to make my condition reverse, if left any longer it will take a very long time to get better.

Before my FND I was training for my dream job- to become a Primary School Teacher. This has been put on hold as I am not well enough. I am restricted in my daily life as I am unable to leave the house without anyone, due to having a seizure when I do. Every day is a struggle as I suffer with facial ticks, numbness/ tingling in my left side of my body, shaking, seizures, blacking out and hand tremors.

I have found a psychologist that is willing to help get me treatment and has successfully cured 4 people of FND. She has offered her services to me, however it is £95 p/h. We are unable to afford this by ourselves, so we are asking for a small contribution towards my FND treatment. Any money contributed would be amazing, as I really would like to get back to my normal self as soon as possible. Even a small contribution of £1 would mean a lot to me and my family, as I am struggling so much with my condition.

Thank you you so much in advance,
Sarah x
