Sarah’s Brain Tumour Journey

On October 26th Sarah’s life changed in a bad way. A dizzy spell was diagnosed as vertigo and a 3-6 week recovery period was given. 17 days away from full benefits she was let go from her new job because illness would prevent her from getting back to work. A week later the news it wasn’t actually vertigo but a meningioma brain tumour was given and her and her daughters lives would change forever. Living in a third floor walk up and not being able to walk now they face difficult times. Sarah’s medical expenses and sick leave are not covered because she didn’t qualify for her benefit package. Employment Insurance benefits she was 15 hours short for. Now having to move Sarah and Madison (her youngest) have to put their stuff in storage and move to a friends so there’s constant care for her and help with Madison. We’re looking for some help with medical expenses, medication expenses and moving expenses that are about to add up. Ontario Works will not allow her to apply for 8 weeks due to the accident settlement money and we all know she helped everyone else with money and was left with nothing. With Christmas coming and rent to be paid every cent she has is from child tax and only comes once a month. Brain surgery is the planned treatment but weeks of testing will have to be done first. Worrying about the financial strain is the last thing she needs right now. Making sure her and Madison are safe and comfortable will help allow recovery after treatment.
