Sarah’s breast cancer treatment

I’m starting this page for my best friend, Sarah. I have known her since we were 8 years old. She is always there for me no matter what and I want to do everything I can to help and support her during this difficult time. Sarah is 31 years old, she has a wonderful husband, Mike and an amazing 5 year old daughter, Brooklyn. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer 2 types...invasive ductal carcinoma and ductal carcinoma IN SITU stage 2. Even though her gene test revealed she’s not a carrier. She had a double mastectomy with reconstruction tissue expanders on February 8th. Special testing called mammoprint revealed that with her age and the two types of cancer She has, the chances of the cancer coming back somewhere else is high. These cancer types are hormone fed so her fertility is suspended. She will start 2 types of chemotherapy Next week and end june first. With the weekly visits to the plastic surgeon getting the tissue expanders filled does not allow her to work and being a cosmetologist compromises the range of motion in her arms and chest. After chemo she will start radiation. It’s typically m-f for 5 weeks. She will need to heal for 3-6 months before she gets her exchange surgery for final reconstruction. Lack of work for her is taking a lot away financially. They desperately need a second car as her and Mike share an 11 year old vehicle right now. Medical bills are starting to pile up as well with Mike having to take off work to drive Sarah to appointments and help take care of Brooklyn. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated for this wonderful, sweet and caring family.
