Medical Fund for Sara Hill

We recently learned that my aunt Sara Hill has a VERY serious liver disease that is progressing quickly and also causing pretty serious kidney damage as well.  Their expenses are through the roof, as they are self-insured, have an extremely high deductible and a very small in-network (which means they have had no choice but to see an out-of-network provider on several occasions). In order to save her life, Sara and her family have been looking at a live donor partial implant from her brother, but insurance won’t cover the procedure. As you can imagine, it will be extremely expensive, and because there is a waiting period in Texas, they are looking at possibilities at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.  But with every turn there are more setbacks and more red tape, and the bills keep piling up.

Anyone who knows Sara knows how hard she loves her friends and family. Sara is a mom to 3 fantastic kids -- two of whom are still in college -- and has been married to my uncle Keith for 27 years (30 years together in total). She also has extended family in Texas, California, and Wisconsin, on top of the expansive network of friends across the country. Sara started her own business 15 years ago and worked through blood, sweat, and tears to contribute to a better life for her family. There is no one more deserving of help than this woman, who has been known to give all she can to everyone else, whether she knows them personally or not.  Both her big and small gestures of giving and kindness can be seen everywhere she goes, and now she needs our help.
