One Love: Support Sarah & Ganiesh

Donation protected
Please support my dear friend Sarah in her struggle to be together in the United States with her husband Ganiesh. Over the last few months as my friendship with Sarah has grown, I have watched her move through every step, document, and the financial hardships required to bring her husband to live with her. Last month we  were all so excited that they had finally made it to one of the last steps in the immigration process, only to be denied on a technicality. Anyone who knows Sarah, knows she the last to give up. We're behind her all the way in the next steps of appealing the decision. Please support her with whatever you can to help cover the cost of legal fees and appealing.

When we met it was magical. As if the entire universe had perfectly aligned for that moment to take place. Who would’ve thought a Jamaican and an American would wind up in Saint Lucia as vegans and find each other? But there we were…an instant deep love that we never knew would be tested so hard. It’s been 3.5 years since we first locked eyes and a world of challenge, struggle, and constant commitment ever since. From the very beginning our relationship was challenged by the people we loved the most. My parents pushed pretty hard, my father stopped talking to me for a while.

Distance was always between us once he moved away from Saint Lucia. Broken phones and increasing expenses for two people who believed love would conquer all started taking a toll. We’d been engaged for a year…tried setting a date and it fell apart due to so many issues. When I returned to the states I knew I wanted my soul united to his under god. So I flew to Jamaica, by myself, and we married on the beach with his entire village as witness. The moment we said “I do” something changed. My soul was intricately connected to this man and I knew that no matter what was put before us we would face it together.

Here we are today, still fighting. Immigration documents, costs, and policies have us jumping through every hoop imaginable and pushing us even more. Yet we stay committed to the love and truth that bound our souls ages before we ever knew it was coming.
And now I have my father fighting for us. But we need help. The cost of the lawyers and fighting to bring us together is something neither of us can maintain. I am asking…if you believe in love…if you have found a soul-awakening in another what would you do to be together? All we want is to build our lives and our love together as one. It’s all we’ve ever wanted.
