Sarah Sayles Medical and Child Care

Sarah Sayles is a mother of two growing boys, a stay-at-home mom, a community volunteer, and a member of the Maidu Little League Board of Directors.  On May 16th, 2017, she was admitted to the Sutter Roseville Hospital with a DVT in the left leg and bilateral pulmonary embolisms in the chest.  During an eight day stay in the hospital, making sure that her blood levels were therapeutic and stable, Sarah was diagnosed with a rare blood clotting disease called Factor V Leiden.  While most who have Factor V Leiden may not develop symptoms or any blood clots in their lifetime, some may develop clots and long-term health problems that become life-threatening (Source: Mayo Clinic).

On June 7th, 2017, Sarah was admitted to Sutter Roseville Hospital again.  During the month of June, Sarah has been in and out of the ICU while also undergoing three procedures to try to break up and dislodge the blood clot in the lower left leg--sadly, all attempts failed.  Sarah was also diagnosed with another condition called May Thurner which, in the future, will require the need for a stent placed in the iliac vein. As well, Sarah will need in-home care with a nurse and Physical Therapy; ongoing outpatient Physical Therapy, medications, and she may need to seek treatment from providers that are not covered by insurance.

Through this tumultuous ordeal, Sarah's husband, Chris, has been battling beside her and Sarah's two sons, Paul (age 10) and Henry (age 6), have been supportive and want their mom to be well and be home with them. Understandably, Sarah's extended hospital stay has wreaked havoc on the family both emotionally and financially. The family needs financial assistance with medical bills and child care, especially since school is out for the summer and Sarah is a stay-at-home mom. Ideally, the family would like to put the two boys in a child enrichment program so that Sarah will be able to continue on-going outpatient treatments, physical therapy, and doctor's appointments. The child enrichment program costs about $500 a week for both boys to attend.

All of this adds up to large out-of-pocket expenses for the family.  Every little bit helps if you are able to make a donation the family would greatly appreciate your support.
