Sarah O'Neill Surgery Fundraiser

My daughter desperately needs surgery for her daily endometriosis pain.

Endometriosis is when the uterine lining is found outside of the uterus, inside of the abdominal cavity.

Its symptoms can include severe bleeding, bloating, cramping, nausea, intense pain, overwhelming tiredness, IBS, cysts, adhesions, fibroids, infertility.  Often lack of treatment and some cases can lead to early complete hysterectomies.

In December of last year, Sarah woke up with incredible pain and nausea.  Her symptoms persisted daily and prevented her from working and sometimes even leaving the house.  After many lost days at work, weight loss, and life missed, Sarah saw her gynecologist who said she needed surgery for Endometriosis.  This surgery happened in January 2018.  Sarah missed a total of 7 weeks of work and thought that this was the light at the end of the tunnel, but just a mere two months later, her pain began to come back.  Her usual ways of coping started to fail and pain came back, full force.

After seeking a second opinion, it turns out that the original surgery was not a success and failed to remove the disease.  Her original surgery was done with pure ablation, which is a burning of the disease. Sarah didn't know at the time that this method only causes more discomfort, and did not remove the deepest tissue of the disease, only removing the surface.

Sarah was referred to a specialist in Maine, which is out of network for her insurance.  This new doctor, an expert in Endometriosis with 35 years experience in Endometrial surgery, believes that Sarah not only has a significant amount of deep infiltrating disease left, but that her past many years of stomach pain was due to Endometriosis invading her bowels and intestines. Her new doctor will work tirelessly to remove all the disease through excisions and has a long track record of successful full extractions.   This procedure is one that doctors in Sarah's state and neighboring states are not trained to perform, and she has no other choice but to turn out of state and out of network. This means Sarah will have to pay completely out of pocket for the surgery.

Her new doctor believes she has the potential to live a pain free life with this second surgery, and it is currently her only option.

Sarah is a dedicated teacher who works at a nonprofit therapeutic preschool.  She is kind, caring, and has spent all of her adult life helping and nurturing those around her.  Please help Sarah return to her the best version of herself.

Any donations made will go directly to the cost of her surgery which she needs at her pre-op physical.  The longer she waits for surgery, the worse her Endometriosis will become.
