Sarah and David's Adoption Journey

Donation protected
As most of you already know Sarah and I are so excited to announce that we will be adopting a little girl from China soon!!!  At this stage in our adoption we wanted to share this amazing story with friends and family to show how beautiful and mysterious the hand of God is.  Our adoption process began in November of 2015, but our adoption journey that God was leading us down had actually started long before we ever even knew it.  After three wonderful years of marriage we both felt a desire to grow our family by having a child; but after a year of trying to conceive we decided to see a fertility specialist in Atlanta, GA.  We were told that it was possible for us to achieve pregnancy naturally but due to a complication it may take us longer than normal.  The doctor gave Sarah some medication to help but it made her very sick so she stopped taking it. She then recommended that we give in vitro fertilization (IVF) a try if we wanted to get pregnant quickly and that we would be great candidates with an excellent chance for success.  We started heading down this road on our own because it just seemed like the logical decision to make.

One day we were talking and somehow the topic of adoption came up.  That’s when it hit us both that we had not even taken the time to pray about such a big decision.  We took a step back and decided to spend a few months in prayer asking God to direct our path. Be prepared to be amazed when you ask God to show up in your life because He certainly did for us.  For me as I begin to pray I asked God to transform my will into His.   Before long IVF wasn’t even a thought for me and I knew that God wanted me to adopt.  At the same time Sarah was in prayer and God gave her some definite signs that led her heart to adoption.  One night Sarah was on our back patio praying for the Lords guidance and asked Him to show her a shooting star if adoption was the path He wanted us to take.  As she looked up she saw the most beautiful and brightest shooting star streak across the sky.  We both then revealed to each other that we felt God was leading us to adoption but now what?  We went back to the Lord in prayer and asked for His guidance and that’s when something extraordinary happened.  Soon after we prayed we were both looking at videos on YouTube and were drawn to one about a little girl named Mia who was adopted from China.  The very next day after church we decided to go eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  As we were walking out of the door the family from the Chinese adoption video from the night before was walking in and we were able to meet them in person.  That has to be statistically impossible and is definitely a God sized moment!  It’s amazing what God will do when we get ourselves out of the way and just let Him work in our lives.  We were both blown away and knew exactly what we needed to do.

We are so committed to this process that we actually stopped trying to achieve pregnancy because it would significantly delay the adoption.  Only God knows if biological children are in our future but for now we have a very special little girl somewhere in China that God is bringing into our lives.  We feel so blessed to be on this new journey that God is leading us through. At the end of this long process will be a precious little girl that needs a home and loving parents. It’s strange to love someone we’ve never met but God has placed this in our hearts and that is what makes it so special to us. We are in His will and that is exactly where we need to be. So until we can hold you in our arms, precious girl, we will hold you in our hearts. Please join us in this journey through prayer, financial support or both.  We will keep you updated as we move forward and can’t wait to see what God has planned.  We also pray that our story will be a testimony to others of Gods faithfulness to fulfill His purpose in all of our lives.  Please feel free to share this with others.  We love you all and God bless!

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:18
