Help Sarada: A Semester in Africa

My name is Sarada Leavitt. I live in Bozeman, Montana. I am an adventurous person who is open to taking risks. With the support of my family and any one who donates, I will be spending a High School semester in Southern Africa with The Travelling School.
I don't want to ask for this money solely as a way to help me, and while that still is its main use, in exchange for any amount I raise I will be doing 100 hours of community service. I will be starting with community service before I leave, while I'm gone, and when I get home. This way the money isn't just so to help me but also to motivate me to do something to help other people and my community.
The Traveling School is a program where I would travel with fifteen like minded girls and four teacher/mentors to Southern Africa. I would be taking honors classes and learning from the environment and culture that I would be submerged in. We would explore nature, camp, hike, surf, volunteer and have amazing and exciting adventure. All of our classes would have to do with what was going on around us; our history class would focus on the history of the place we are in and our science class would revolve around a phenomenon we could see in the environment around us, making our classes engaging in a way they couldn't be in a classroom. The Traveling School is an amazing opportunity that I'm very lucky to have.
The Traveling School provides me with the opportunity to expand my world. The outlook that The Traveling School and the girls going with me have about life is a view of adventure and experience that is very exciting to me. I want the ability to learn from more of the world and from more people and this program provides that. The chance to leave behind the negative parts of conventional high school to participate in such a fulfilling program that provides a sense of excitement to everyday things such as school work, is something I'm very passionate about.
