Sara's Journey back from BMT

Donation protected
Imagine for a moment-visiting your family doctor to take some routine tests because you noticed some bruises on your body that weren't going away. More importantly, you weren't even sure how or when they appeared. And, explaining to your Doctor, that walking up a flight of stairs would make you exhausted. Imagine hearing the next day "you have B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common type of cancer in children". At this moment the cancer is blasting in your body so fast that every minute counts. "Go home pack a bag, you need to be admitted to the hospital tonight."

Imagine putting the brakes on your entire life in a moments notice to fight for your life.

The Backstory-Sara was diagnosed with ALL on Wednesday September 13, 2017. She was admitted to the University of MN hospital for six weeks of intense Chemotherapy (step one). She was admitted to the Mayo Clinic on January 21st for her Bone Marrow Transplant (step two). After two days of Chemo and three days of full body radiation, she received her bone marrow transplant on January 26th. To say this journey has been a rough road is an understatement. The quest to beat cancer is a difficult one.

Who is Sara-she is a 52 year old single mother of two college age children, Jayne and Jack and her adorable dog named Bizzy. Sara is a Real Estate Closer and has spent her career helping countless people buy and sell their homes. Sara is the first person to lend a hand to family, friends and strangers. She supports her community and her community of faith.

The best way to describe Sara is to share with you her signature on her Caringbridge journal entries ; "Faith not fear. Please be kind to each other, it is all that really matters. XO."

Our goal and why-just like many of us, Sara has a mortgage, living expenses and college expenses. Her medical bills to date are close to $1,000,000 and although she has insurance, her portion is unknown at this point. Sara is self-employed and her return to work is uncertain. Her disability insurance is ending March 15th. We are hoping to raise $50,000 to help with her living expenses and her medical bills so that Sara's focus can remain on getting well.

Many generous friends and strangers have supported Sara and made donations last year. Thank you. We are all eternally grateful for the goodness of people. However, this journey has twists and turns and we need to help more.

From Sara and her family, thank you for your prayers, generosity, and well wishes. All have been uplifted as a result of your kindness. Every dollar is appreciated. Thank you.
