Sara Standridge's cancer battle
Donation protected
Sara is a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. It has spread into her bones, neck, lymph nodes and the chest muscle. After chemo shrinks the tumors, she will have a bilateral mastectomy. Then more chemo and radiation. She has a strong faith saying, “The Lord healed me 16 years ago and He can do it again if it's His will. Either He heals me here or He takes me to be with Him. Either way I win. Thank you for praying.”
She battled her first round of breast cancer with strength, faith, grace, and dignity, teaching the students of our community through the whole process, including chemo, radiation, and the accompanying side effects, including hair loss. Through that battle she continued to teach and raise her three children, missing almost no time at work. She would teach all day, wearing a turban to cover her hair loss, and have her treatments in the evening. Her strength and commitment to her job and family were remarkable. Facing this new round of treatment she has only 58 sick days compiled with the Pike Co. school system, which she is running through quickly.
Sara has touched the lives of so many of Pike’s children and their families. She has been a dedicated, loving teacher at PCMS and a devoted parent, friend, and follower of Christ. Prayers are needed now more than ever. We would also like to be able to help her with some of the financial burdens that will accompany this round of medical treatment and missed time from work. Please pray, and if you are able, consider a donation of any size. She would be truly grateful to the community that she has served for the past 17 years.
Sara has given me permission to create this fundraiser. I love my forever friend and blessed to have taught alongside her.
