Support Sara from Gaza to Study Law in Turkey.

You can help by donating, sharing with friends and family and on social media. I would be grateful if you take the time to read my story down below, after giving you a brief introduction of the campaign.

Introduction

My name is Sara, I am 20 years old, and I am from the city of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.

I want to raise €10,000, in order to realize my dream of studying law in Turkey, as soon as the opportunity to leave Gaza is available. I have been accepted to two Universities in Turkey and I need your support to help finance the first steps. For this, I am raising funds to cover my tuition fees, evacuation fees, travel and living costs as well as additional costs for legal procedures.

Goal: $10,000
Costs:
- Evacuation fees (unknown, we’ll wait for political developments, as the crossings are still closed)
- Study visa, Travel costs, Official documents, legal procedures (min. $2000)
- University Tuition fees for the Law Program ($2,000)
- Living expenses (min. $800/month)
- Continued support for my family’s basic needs

Why now?

Rafah Crossing is mostly closed, and no one knows when it will open or for how long. So I must be financially ready now to leave as soon as the opportunity arises.
This campaign is not just a means of support; it is my only lifeline, a lifesaver for my family and my dream of studying. Every day of delay means more lost opportunities.

This is not a long-term project but a race against time. I want to be ready today so that if the borders open temporarily, I can travel immediately and start my studies, carrying the message of Gaza into the halls of law and defending my people’s right to live.

My Story

I completed my high school education in the summer of 2023, and my dream was to continue my university studies in Turkey, majoring in Law - a field I have always aspired to pursue, not only as an academic path but as a life mission. I want to study law because I believe in my right, and in the right of every human being, to live in freedom, peace, and dignity.

In a world filled with silence towards the suffering of my people, I want to be a voice that cannot be silenced, a witness that cannot be erased, and a defender of the rights of those who lack the strength to defend themselves.

Before the tension and destruction, I graduated with excellence from high school, achieving a score of 92.7% on the Palestinian Tawjihi exam.
Recently, I was accepted into two Turkish universities to study law — the science I believe is the path to justice and freedom.

Years before the war erupted, I believed in nonviolence, and I still hold on to that belief. I believed in international law, the dignity of civilians, and the power of dialogue. These were lessons my father taught me throughout his life. He was a history and geography teacher who always told me: "no matter what happens, we must not let war strip us of our humanity — if we do, the war wins, and we do not want the war to win.”.

Turning point:

I was one of those who found comfort in watching movies, and I loved literature and music.
A few months after graduating, the war broke out and turned my life upside down. The war stole everything: my father, our home, our stability, and even my ability to dream quietly.

My small family amid the crisis:

My family is my small world struggling to stand firm amidst the storms of war and tragedy. We are seven people, each with a different story of resilience, and each passing day is a new challenge to survive. My grandmother Maryam, my father’s mother, is a symbol of both patience and helplessness. My mother Hanan - the woman who shows incredible strength caring for and protecting us, amidst destruction and poverty. My older brother Hamza (23 years old) forced to be the family pillar. My younger siblings - Yasmin (10), Ghadeer (8) and little Mustafa — are the remaining hope in this life, but they suffer from severe lack of food, widespread skin allergies, caused by extreme heat, illness and lack of medicine.

Situation now:

I was living with my family in Khan Yunis before the war, but due to bombardment and destruction, we were displaced more than seven times.

On July 18, 2025, my father, who was our light and safety, was killed while trying to secure some food aid. He left our lives, leaving my mother alone to bear this heavy responsibility. But despite all this, we remain together, holding onto each other like roots that cannot be broken no matter how hard the winds blow.

Since that day, my family and I have been displaced, living in a tent in southwestern Gaza (Al-Mawasi) without electricity, clean water, or access to basic human rights.

We barely have food and struggle daily to survive. Life has become unbearable. Gaza is under siege, and hunger is used as a weapon. Some days I do not eat anything. I have seen my little siblings faint from hunger, and this deliberate starvation is what we face now.

Closing with Hope

As the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish said:

“To be a Palestinian means to be afflicted with the disease of hope with no cure.”

I am Sara, a Palestinian afflicted with this disease. I need your hope and support so that my dream does not perish amidst the suffering of war.

I am not asking for charity; rather, I am asking for a chance to live, learn, and save my family from the horrors of war. Every contribution from you, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to safety and a new beginning, and keeps my faith alive that solidarity still exists even in the darkest of times.

If you cannot donate, sharing my story may reach a heart capable of helping.
Join me in the dream of hope and dignity.

Sara from Gaza

P.S. Why don’t I share pictures of my family?

I know well that photos could make the story more impactful, but my heart does not allow me to exploit the faces of my little siblings and family during these harsh circumstances we are going through.

Their privacy and dignity are more precious than being exposed in a moment of weakness or pain. We don’t just live a story; we live every day under fear, amidst endless cries and pain. And we are still in Gaza, where danger pursues us at every corner.

I don’t want our tragedies to turn into photos exploited or marketed. I protect my mother’s face that holds tears of sorrow, and I protect my siblings’ eyes that deserve to be shielded from the pain of the world.

Our story is told with words that pulse with life and pain that images cannot truly convey. I believe your hearts will reach the pulse of our suffering and feel our pain through our voice without the need to show pictures that might deepen our wounds.
This choice comes from deep love and care for my family, and from the belief that humanity doesn’t need pictures to recognize pain, but open hearts that listen and understand.
