Sanctuary Vehicle

Big V animal sanctuary in the Limousin in France are desperately in need of a reliable vehicle, and preferably a second back up vehicle, for transporting and rescuing animals, collection of food and bedding for the residents and for vet runs when needed. The vehicles they were using are in need of extensive repairs to get them back on the road.

Miranda and Jerome are currently having to rely on visitors to the sanctuary for help but this isn’t always possible and visitors vehicles are not always suitable. Because they are unable to collect from one of their hay suppliers as they are too far away, they have used up their emergency store for the summer and Miranda and Jerome are having to hand manipulate huge bales up and down the country lanes in the absence of transport.

Without the ability to travel to the vets it has also become necessary to call the vet  out more often to the sanctuary at greater cost. The food run has previously been carried out using a wheelbarrow but this is no longer an option as the animals get through 400kgs of grains a week.

A backup vehicle would ensure they always have the ability to respond to an emergency need if their primary mode of transport is in for service or otherwise unavailable or in use.

it is hoped to raise the necessary funds to repair the sanctuaries existing vehicles and get them back on the road. Sanctuary life has many challenges and the day to day running with 80 plus residents requires the constant collection and transportation of food and bedding and call outs to rescue animals in need.
