“A LONG WAY FROM HOME”
For Santos Rodrigues
I am writing on behalf of our good friend Santos Rodrigues. Santos has had a bout with bad luck. Over this past season Santos worked through agonizing pain caused by blood clots in his legs. He did this because of his work ethic and the importance he places on the projects he is involved in. As you may already know, Santos takes great pride in EVERYTHING he does.
For those of you who know Santos, you know how hard a worker he is. Santos is the back bone of Mitchell Landscape Construction. Those of you in the green industry know how hard it is to find a good employee, who is loyal, hardworking, puts 65 hours a week into irrigation installs/repairs and whom you also consider a dear friend.
Over the last 3 weeks Santos has gone through several operations to try and save his leg and at one point was on dialysis fighting for his life because his body was shutting down.
Last week Santos lost his leg. His leg was removed from the mid-thigh down due to complications arising from the clots. Despite the best efforts of Santos’ medical team, his leg could not be saved.
Put yourself in Santos’ place for just a moment and think about that… your from Brazil, far from your family, building a good life through hard work, and you find yourself in a hospital having your leg removed.
Mitchell Landscape has created a Go Fund Me Page to collect donations to help Santos get through this trying time. In addition to the mounting medical bills, surgeries and dialysis he owns a home here on the Cape and has a car payment just like the rest of us. He will need a prosthetic, rehabilitation and will have to re-train his body to start all over again.
We are asking for your help. Help Santos get through these times by making a donation of whatever you can to help our friend! Thank you!
