Santino's Voice Detroit Marathon Team

Donation protected
It is with much excitement that team Santino’s Voice embarks on its 7th year of participating in the Detroit Free Press Marathon. Santino’s Voice first appeared in the marathon on a cold October morning in 2009. Matt Catherincchia, my husband, was the lone team member and he ran a marathon to honor our son, Santino, who runs the marathon of autism daily. Everyday Santino faces a world that for him can be overwhelming and scary. His body struggles with the pain of sensory dysfunction as he tries to find some input that will give him calm and rest. He functions within a rigorous schedule of work and therapy to overcome every obstacle autism has put in his path. However, Santino has something most of us lack or struggle to maintain...joy!!! When I see my precious boy I see an intelligent, handsome, affectionate little boy who has a smile that lights up any room he is in. His eyes are like windows into his soul. In those big, brown, expressive eyes I see the beauty of what God has created in this little miracle he has given our family. I don't see autism I see a precious boy that God is using to touch the hearts of many. You see Santino's obedience to God is so pure and simple it is not tainted by worldliness like ours. God has whispered, "let me use you" and Santino's beautiful smile is all you need to see to know that he has said "yes".

This year another amazing group of people have joined together to be a voice for Santino and every other child or family affected by autism. They will sacrifice their time and their bodies in pursuit to achieve something special...Autism Awareness on a whole new level. Santino's Voice spreads autism awareness through the promises of our Lord. We hope in Him and wait on Him and He is faithful to us. He gives us the strength to endure and take every next step on our journey.

All money raised by Santino's Voice goes directly to cover the cost of all of Santino's many therapies and to help establish Santino's Voice as a future nonprofit. Our dream is for Santino's Voice to be a full nonprofit charity that not only helps to ease the financial burden of individual families who are affected by autism but to also give scholarships to Metro Detroit churches to implement special needs ministries. Currently 95% of people within the special needs community do not attend church. That static not only breaks our hearts but we also know that it breaks the heart of God. Our passion is to ensure that every Metro Detroit church understands the absolute necessity for this ministry so that the hands and feet of Christ can wrap themselves around these families and give them the hope that can be found in the Lord.

By donating to Santino’s Voice you are helping to change the life of one very special little boy. With your support, Santino will continue on his path to beating autism. You are also investing in a greater cause. A cause that takes the hope that only God can give and brings it to families who so desperately need to cling to hope. The thought of every church in Metro Detroit opening their arms to welcome these children and their families is dream that I cannot wait to see come true!

Your support is so needed and so appreciated. Any donation given can make the biggest difference for Santino and hopefully so many more.
Sincerely,
Nikki Catherincchia
