Santiago Food Pantry 2025

I didn't wake up one day thinking: "I will start a little food bank for my neighbours", it just developed slowly and organically over time and now I am doing this since 5 years!

To keep the shelves well stocked like in the photos on top and at the bottom of this text, I rely on donations that allow me to buy groceries and basic hygiene and cleaning supplies.

A typical weekly order starts with 10-15kg potatoes, 18l milk, several kilos of pasta etc. plus a lot more like cleaning products, toilet paper and so on.

Keeping the shelves stocked costs a minimum of 500 Euros/month. And that is really the bare minimum for the most basic supplies to help those of my neighbors that experience food insecurity and other needs.

Therefore, to cover all of 2025 I have set the fundraising goal to 5,000 Euros, an amount which allows for a bit of margin for, sadly expected, price increases and some extras for special days such as Easter, St.James Day, Christmas and the like.

My little neighborhod pantry is a small set up that helps 16-20 people of all ages directly, but these people also share the goodies with their extended families, so the number of people that I am helping is certainly larger than 20.
