“The love in the air is thicker than the smoke"
My daughter-in-law and two grandchildren escaped the Tubbs wildfire in Santa Rosa in only their pajamas and flip flops. They found out later that they had lost everything. Friends have sent them pictures of their home site. The pictures aren't of smoldering homes; they are of completely vacant lots, a sidewalk leading to nothing. They are safe and fine, have excellent insurance, and the means to cope. But, they do emphasize that many are in need in the community, especially those without insurance and single moms.
This fund is dedicated to provide financial assistance to single moms and dads who lost their homes in the wildfires. I have contacted ‘The Living Room’ in Santa Rosa, and they have agreed to use any donations from this fund exclusively for those who lost their homes in the wildfires. The Mission of The Living Room is to ease adversity and promote stability, dignity, and self-reliance for women and children who are homeless, or at-risk of homelessness, in Sonoma County.
I have explored other charitable organizations to assist us in this cause and have been in contact with the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa. They too will apply our donations only to single men and women who are homeless because of the wildfires.
The first donation of $1000 is going to 'The Living Room' followed $1000 to the Catholic Charities. I will then alternate to each in $500 incrementals. This will continue as long as you bless those in need with your generosity.
The fund's goal is $10,000, but if everyone gives only an affordable $10 and asks everyone in their address books to contribute $10, we can easily achieve the goal.
