Sonoma County Fire Recovery

**Update 10/17/17**
Over the past week, we've been able to purchase and deliver $10,747.85 worth of supplies to shelters across Sonoma County. Your donations allowed our small team of friends to fill the gaps in and around Sonoma County, helping evacuees get the supplies they needed when they needed them and for that, we are truly grateful.

Now that the fires are mostly contained we are moving into the recovery phase of this disaster and is why we've changed the name of this GoFundMe to Sonoma County Fire Recovery.

To date, we have a remaining $16,306.51 left from the money raised by this campaign and will continue to raise more. Our plan is to donate the money to organizations and projects that help the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our community affected by the fires.

Finally, for transparency, we have created a google spreadsheet that accounts for all the money we've raised and spent and includes links to images of receipts and the supplies purchased, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D4wvqIciDhTupjAUcVnhsx6Bh-ERPKJRQTsUTdjj0Ws/edit?usp=sharing

For those who don't know me, my name is Kyle Doherty and I was born and raised in Santa Rosa, CA. I grew up in the Hidden Valley and later Fountaingrove neighborhoods, both of which I've been told have burnt to the ground.

My parents were still living in our home in Fountaingrove when the fire came and like so many people my Mom had to leave quickly in the middle of the night with nobody there to help her as my Dad was out of town and my brothers and I no longer live in the area. She is thankfully safe!

I now live in Brooklyn, NY and after seeing the devastation that happened to my hometown felt compelled to fly home and help in any way possible, specifically by purchasing supplies for shelters and volunteering

Today, 10/10/17, I'm flying into SFO at 1:30 pm PT and am being driven by my friend to Cal West Rentals in Petaluma (30 mins south of Santa Rosa) to pick up a Van or Truck, depending on how much money is raised and how many supplies are needed.

We have friends who are at this moment working at shelters and can send us a list of exact supplies needed at specific shelters. I've been told they need everything from first aid supplies, to blankets, to dog food. Whatever they tell us they need is what we'll buy.

I expect the funds from GoFundMe won't be available to my checking account yet so I and friends will purchase the supplies with our credit cards, posting receipts and photos of supplies to the GoFundMe campaign to be 100% transparent and so everyone can see the good their money is doing.

If we have money leftover we will cut a check or find a way for GoFundMe to transfer the funds to a charity we're in direct contact with.

If you're looking for a way to help those affected by the Santa Rosa fires please donate.
