The Sanney family needs our support.
Our names are Doug and Kari Shimmel – and Kristin is Kari’s sister. We live in Detroit and can’t be there day to day but wanted to help lift up this family in support and prayer as they face a new challenge with Jimmy’s health.
Two years ago on October 11, Jimmy underwent surgery for stomach cancer. The physicians were successful in removing three tumors, but there were some complications. Jimmy lost 70% of his stomach and his body has had a difficult time healing. A year ago, Jimmy developed a sore on his foot that hasn’t been able to heal and this has made it incredibly painful to walk. The doctors have been trying different treatment plans in the hopes that a surgical solution would be postponed until May so that Jimmy and Kristin could plan for the time off and expenses. But last week the decision was made that he will need to undergo surgery immediately to clean the wound, check for any bone infections and elongate the tendon the top of his foot to help relieve the pressure to prevent amputation. Surgery is scheduled for Friday, October 5th.
As many of you know, Jimmy works two jobs to help support his family. And as you can imagine, the stress of 60+ hours on his feet and his body have made healing difficult. He will now need to take at least four weeks off of work and have limited hours for an additional four to six weeks. This unexpected medical expense and time off work is a challenge for this family. This is where we come in. We would like to ask help to raise the necessary funds to cover their medical costs and lost wages over the next two months. Please consider blessing this family, no amount is too small – as every dollar will be a huge help.
In addition, we would appreciate your prayers, as this will be a challenging time as Jimmy recovers from surgery, the kids are in three different schools (with very different schedules) and Kristin is working full-time. The past two years have life-changing for this family and they have seen and felt the love of God through many people providing their support. Please join us again in lifting them up.
