Sanji Behavioural Specialist

Hi Everyone,

My Name is Jonathan and I am Sanji the Shiba's master!

Please forgive the long read, but I feel those details are important. I wouldn't be comfortable asking for your support and being entrusted with funds otherwise.

Sanji is a young male Black & Tan Shiba Inu, with an amazingly diverse personality; He's curious, goofy, smart, rambunctious, loving and playful! Almost everyone who's laid eyes on Sanji were instantly captivated by his beauty and charming personality.

He's the one I chose to be my dearest companion for the rest of his life! He's been with me almost a year now.

As some of you may know, the last year has been particularly grueling for me as I have been fighting battles on many fronts... And sadly, that includes Sanji. He was meant to be a source of solace and comfort, as well as responsibility/discipline in order to better myself.

For a time, he was, and things were great! He was super social and friendly with every person and animal he met, obeyed commands and surpassed expectations... Until he hit maturity.

Sanji comes from a competitive pedigree and lineage, and when I agreed to be his master, I struck a special deal with his breeder, as I wanted to do canine dog shows with him, considering his exceptional features for his race. To qualify for competitions, your dog needs to remain intact.

Unfortunately that means his hormones and growth have stirred certain things out of control. Things that were not caused by or changed with normal dog training. Things I beat myself up trying to fix.

He has become somewhat… unpredictable. Most days, he’s fine. But sometimes, he will act defensively for no reason and growl at anyone who comes near him. Or, for example, he will ‘invite’ us to pet him by laying on his back, but immediately start snarling and attempt to bite if we continue. This is terribly misleading and abnormal. This does not result from any trauma or wounds we could identify. He also became hostile towards some other dogs - before he would play with every other dog without issue.

The worst part is I can’t really introduce him to strangers anymore. Not as he is. For example, he will happily run up to you, but if you try to pet him, he MIGHT growl at you.

Shiba inus are Primitive dogs (That haven't been genetically bred through generations for desirable traits for humans, almost wild) and are known for many things; Boldness, Independence, Strong-will, Temperament, Mischievousness, Cleverness, etc. They are very challenging to raise.

I am an experienced dog owner, and initially, I believed we raised him right. He used to obey every command, use proper signs and warnings - other dog owners were praising us for his behaviour... until his maturity change. When things started going awry, I blamed myself. But I never harm my dog. I’ve only ever shown him love. So imagine my heartbreak when he bit me because I simply tried to give him cuddles.  I told myself I was a bad owner… But I think it’s not the case if I’m trying to do something about it.

So the solution is a behavioral specialist. Not just any random dog trainer.

We’ve contacted her and explained in detail the situation, which she’s confident in being able to solve. However, the urgency of letting this issue trail, availability and pricing makes it a pressing matter. A pressing matter that’s expensive enough to make me flinch and put enough of a strain on my livelihood. I really want this to be solved with your help, so that you can meet Sanji without a hitch!

Any contribution and your support is really appreciated. Your help will really take a huge weight off my shoulders, of which my gratitude cannot be put in words alone. I will be sure to pay you back somehow.

Thank you for taking the time to read and your consideration,

Jonathan
