I am honored to have the opportunity to introduce to you my amazing friend Sanja, who is trying to follow her dreams on her way to becoming a Master molecular biologist! But to achieve her dream and to start making the world a better place, she needs help from us all.

Hello everyone, my name is Sanja. I am 23 years old and I come from Serbia. I would like to introduce myself and my work through the next few states:

 

1. I have had a great passion for science and mathematics since I was a kid. Last two years of elementary school I finished in a special class for children talented in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

 

2. I have participated in biology competitions in high school, attended various camps, seminars, and scientific conferences related to biology and natural sciences. I am interested in the popularisation of science and science communication.

 

3.  I have been an active volunteer on children's education on the topic of ecology and biology for 4 years.

 

4. I have been a member of many non-governmental organisations since high school. Some of them are: the European Youth Parliament of Serbia, the Scientific research society of biology and ecology students "Josif Pančić",  Novi Sad Environmental Movement, the Student Union of the Faculty of Sciences, and many others.

 

5. Now I am mostly active as a coordinator of the public opinion research team in the Centre of International Public Policy in my country, where I tend to initiate activities related to ecology and education.

 

6. I raise awareness about plastic pollution on social media, where I am gaining more and more traction across all demographics, but especially amongst young people.

 

7. I graduated on time, with a GPA of 9.90/10, and total ECTS of 244/240.

 

8. My dream is to learn from the best from the master's studies so that I can take an even more active role in making our world a better place. I am mostly interested in cell signaling and the cell cycle. What I am amazed by the most is the impact of stress on cell processes on the molecular level, especially mitochondrial dynamics and the process of aging.

 

9. I have been admitted to master studies in Padova in Italy for the academic year 2021/2022. I have finished pre-enrollment, valorisation of my diploma and now I am looking for accommodation.

And there my problem begins. Since the competition for a place in one of the student dormitories for non-EU students is really tough (only 20 out of 650 total), I wasn’t given a place. Therefore, I have to find private accommodation. For that purpose, I will need a total amount of 5 000 euros.

I come from a single-parent family. My mom has been unemployed for 15 years now. We make our ends meet from my father's alimentation and my grandmother's help. That is far from enough to pay for my stay in Padova for this year. That is why I am asking you to help me.

 

I am only asking to be given a chance to study. I will be more than grateful for all donations!
