SANG’S FUNDRAISER 2018
-  Last year we raised AU$ 23,000
-  We build a new bridge in our adopted village
-  We ran an eye clinic and provided poor people with unwanted spectacles collected in Australia
-  We completely rebuilt a house for a local family
-  We distributed rice, soy sauce and noodles to need villagers
-  The local Red Cross supported our efforts

Our private charity commenced in 2011 when we began raising money in our restaurant to help the people from Sang's Village, Vinh Hoa Phu, not far from Rach Gia in Vietnam.

We began by handing out basic food items that form part of the locals staple diet, to thousands of villagers. Over the past 7 years we have raised $155,000.00 and have handed out more then 64,000 kg of rice, 27,000 bottles of soy sauce and 55,500 packets of noodles. We packed all those items ourselves, with the help of the local community. We have given 6,600 people $5 in cash each to spend on something they would normally not buy. We have cooked lunch for all people who visited the farm to collect their supplies. Keeping in mind that most people bring a family member or friend with them, we reckon we have cooked more then 11,000 bowls of pho, the beloved Vietnamese noodle soup.

In 2017 we raised enough money to replace a bridge in the heart of our village. Our beautiful new bridge replaces an old and rickety one. We made it wider, adding railings and made it easier to manoeuvre their motor cycles.
We organized an eye clinic in our village, and with the help of Dr Jodie Marshall from Ormuz Eye Care, checked more then 100 villagers eyes.  We were able to match many villagers up with unwanted spectacles we collected here before we left Australia.

Every year we organize a party for the local people in our neighborhood. Year after year, without asking, many neighbors turn up and help us out in many different ways. Our yearly party is a highlight for many people in this small rural township.
The big day, when we invite nearly a thousand people
to our farm, includes blessings and prayers from local
Buddhist priests and monks. Up to 50 monks from different temples around the area visit our farm to pray. We also have the official support from the local Red Cross.

Each year up to 20 of our regular customers pay for their own flights and accommodation to help with our project in Vietnam. Some of our volunteers have joined us four years in a row.

We now have some cash reserves and throughout the year we are able to, for example, assist poor families with buying a coffin for a funeral. We can help poor families make small improvements to their living space.

We have installed a water pump and septic tank and a toilet for a family that previously had no access to those kind of amenities. We have rebuilt simple houses from the ground up.
We are very thankful for the kind support we receive from our customers, sponsors and Sang’s wonderful staff.

Every single dollar we raise goes towards our charity projects. We have no administration or travel costs.
