Sandy Hodges is a force to be reckoned with - a fiercely loving woman who worships with power and abandon. She is a well-known singer and choir director in the Twin Cities gospel music scene, where she inspires, loves and grows people into loving Jesus with all they've got, in song and in life.
Sandy started battling some crippling vertigo a few months ago and spent some time in the hospital, where she learned that both her back and her neck required surgery. Not too long after, the doctors called her back to let her know that her heart was operating at about 20% and they needed to immediately put in some stents. Sandy's using a walker now and working on regaining strength to be able to endure the remaining medical procedures. She has persevered through a LOT.
On top of all this, Sandy's car gave up the ghost at a stoplight a few weeks ago, and it looks to be fully dead. The first mechanic they towed the car to couldn't even get a bolt off to be able to fully diagnose the problem. This has left Sandy and her son Jimmy scrounging for rides to the store, rehearsals, church, doctor's appointments and everything else, often canceling appointments for lack of transportation. Our hope is that, as a community, we can raise enough money to provide her family with some reliable transportation to get where they need to go, so they are able to continue to minister, serve, and live.
Looking at reliable used cars, the goal is to raise $5000 as soon as possible to then be able to find a worthy vehicle for Sandy and Jimmy. Sandy has said she would love an SUV because it sits higher and the lights coming at her or behind her wouldn't irritate her eyes, which both have extreme astigmatism.
In the meantime, if you are able to help get the family around, rides are always greatly appreciated!
