Sandra's journey of healing

My name is Leeina Hoff and the beautiful woman you see in this picture is my GREAT friend of 20+ Years, Sandra Martin.

Over a year ago, Sandra discovered a lump in her breast when she was seven months pregnant with her youngest daughter, Jewel. After exams, imaging, and a biopsy, it turned out the lump was Breast Cancer.

She called me with the news and I was shocked and at a complete loss for words.    Although I am a Nurse Practitioner in the Radiation Oncology Department and care for cancer patients each day, nothing could have prepared me for this news. This was my highschool buddy, a young woman with 4 kids, a daughter, and a sister that had to deal with a cancer diagnosis amongst the many other challenges of daily life. I know what cancer treatment entails and my heart ached for her and her family. I was sad and filled with empathy.

We spent a moment crying together. But then we got to "work!" Sandra was determined to beat Cancer. Initially, She was committed to the usual course of treatment recommended by her doctor: Surgery, several cycles of chemotherapy, several weeks of radiation, and an anti-hormone drug she would take for five years. I too agreed that this was the best course of treatment for her disease. So, Sandra pressed forward, but continued to do her own work as she prepared for treatment.

She prayed, she meditated, she did some serious soul searching and even more research, and with all that she made a decision and a commitment to herself. She decided to heal herself naturally.

Honestly, I was nervous about her plan. But, the more we prayed, the more I learned from her, and the more I learned myself,  the more I realized she was making the best choice for herself. I let her know that I supported her decision and have been on this journey with her ever since.

Currently, Sandra is looking and feeling better than ever. She attibutes her well being to her vegan diet that doesn’t include sugar or fruit, regular exercise,  and most of all her diligence in changing her mental thought patterns. But it is Her immense faith in God that keeps propelling her forward!

It has been over a year since her diagnosis and she can still feel the lump. Sandra has an awesome opportunity to add to her natural healing journey. She recently learned of Hippocrates Health Institute, which has a 3 week program in Florida that provides several different natural healing therapies. These therapies include, Cyberscan biofeedback treatments, vitamin C infusions, massage, oxygen therapy, and much more. This program promotes mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Sandra has put in an application in Faith, knowing that God and the universe support her decision to heal herself and will provide a way for her to receive these treatments.

The program, airfare, lodging, and childcare total over $10,000. Although, Sandra is not the type of person to ask for help, I know this is the only way to make this happen for her.
