Mata Family Harvey Relief

Hurricane Harvey unleashed fury in Texas last Friday. Two days later, standing in waist deep water they glanced back at their home with the water coming up the driveway & still had reservations about leaving. After all, their home wasn't located in a flood-zone & had never flooded before. My dear friend Sandra, husband Reynol, Liam (7), Emmy (3), little sister Karla and Aunt Rosa fled the uncertain scene by wading in the filthy Harvey waters for a mile & a half in the pouring rain, seeking refuge as a precaution. Not for a moment did they imagine that it would be the last time they would see their home of 7 years in its perfect dry condition. Three days later, when the waters receded, they returned home to chaos: cars, home, furniture, clothes -- everything -- had all been immersed in Harvey's devastating flood waters. Absolutely nothing was salvageable. Family pictures, treasured home videos, kids mementos & all personal items of sentimental value had been marinating in filthy flood water for days. Live crawling worms and feces were saturating their most valued possessions. All was lost, except their hope. My friend and her family are full of love, hope and optimism. In the midst of their tragedy, they are still encouraging & generous with the people around them as is their consistent nature & custom. For this reason I created this Gofundme account, yearning to attempt to match even a 4th of their love, generosity & hope. They are fiercely insistent that other victims "have it worse than us" & don't for a second expect anyone to give them anything. They are certain they will rebuild on their own no matter how long it will take and we 100% believe this to be true. But why should they have to do it alone when so many are lovingly willing to ease their painful load? My friends are resilient and deserving of your help. If you've had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of their genuine giving nature you would completely agree this to be true. All funds will go towards the recovery of everything this disaster took from them. We thank you for any contribution you are able to donate towards their journey back to recovery.
