Hi. My name is Paul Heidmann, and I'm posting this for my friend, Sandra Decker. She currently lives in Bismarck, ND. She has multiple medical problems, including a traumatic brain injury, cancer, immune disorders, and she uses a feeding tube, as she is unable to swallow.
She has multiple doctors, who have recomended that she be treated at a tertiary facility. This simply means a very specialized hospital. Their preference is the Mayo Clinic. However, her secondary insurance company has decided that they know more than the doctors involved, and have denied out of state treatment. There has even been a congressional inquiry into their refusal, but they won't budge. It very basically means that the state of North Dakota is killing her. She recently had a medical issue, that has made this even more critical.
She has friends that are willing to help her to relocate to the Phoenix, AZ area. The weather is better, and there is a Mayo Clinic close by, in the same state, so the out of state treatment would no longer be an issue. She needs to do this before the end of the year, preferable ASAP.
Although she hates asking, she needs help. She cannot afford this move on her own, and I estimate the minimum it would cost is $5,000. Please, any donation is welcome, helpful, and will be used strictly for the move. Thanking you in advance for your generosity.
