My baby you'll be
All journeys begin and end. For my big sister, Sandi Morrow, her journey ended September 7, 2017. Along the way Sandi reached out and touched many people with her grace and compassion. I am gathered in Chicago now with her immediate family, neighbors and extended family to recount her life with stories, song, prayers, tears, hugs and laughter. I thought I knew my big sis well. But as I meet her neighbors friends and extended family I'm delighted, honored and humbled to learn about how many people she has helped and inspired with her love and beautiful smile. It's heartening and saddening all at the same time.
Sandi's journey unfortunately included a rare disease Amyloidosis. An Amyloid is an abnormal protein produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any organ or tissue. Her battle with this rare disease landed her in the emergency rooms and ICU many, many times over the past year. Her treatment included regular dialysis and many chemotherapy regiments. All during her treatments medical bills grew. Sandi was always upbeat and positive and believed that this disease and these treatments, at any cost, would just be a chapter in her life but not a final chapter.
I'm asking now that we all pool our resources to assist her family to defray the mountains of medical costs that have grown from her treatments. My hope is to reduce this one burden to help her family so that they can focus on healing and honoring her legacy with their own acts of service and compassion.
