San Luis Obispo 3D Printing COVID-19 Response

Everyone knows how much COVID-19 impacted the worldwide supply of PPE. We are forming a group and addressing this issue by 3D printing PPE for our local communities. Until this point the majority of expenses have come out of pocket and we could really use some donations to cover costs going into the future.

Reasons we need funding:

We want to be able to donate masks to frontline healthcare providers free of charge. Donations will go towards covering costs such as 3D printer filament, consumables, shipping and more.

Sourcing and purchasing N95 filter material. This material will be put to use with our San Luis Obispo Respirator(SLOR) design and we will make it available to others to use with their own mask/respirator designs.  (We had one supplier quote a minimum order cost of $6,000 for enough material to make over 10,000 masks.)

Developing and manufacturing an injection mold to more easily mass produce the SLO Respirator. (It costs between $4,000-$10,000+) to make an injection mold. Injection molding would make the SLO Respirator a lot more durable and easier to disinfect. This would reduce the cost of the SLOR mask from $3-5 down to ~$1.
