Introducing... San Diego Super Bloom!
We're the new professional Womxn's Ultimate Team, based in San Diego, CA.
TLDR: Our mission is to increase accessibility to and visibility of diverse players in the sport of Ultimate through high-level competition, playing opportunities, and community partnerships. A key part of Super Bloom’s focus on the community is that we are a non-profit organization looking to funnel as much as we can back into San Diego’s Ultimate scene. In order to serve San Diego Ultimate through this platform, we need YOUR HELP paying for direct costs. This includes field space for practices, booking stadiums for games, live-streaming, jerseys, and travel (gas, flights, lodging, etc.). We're running this campaign until the end of the season (5/31) and every donation towards our goal is greatly appreciated.
But now a little bit of our story:
The sport of Ultimate Frisbee, now categorized as one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation, differs in that it relies on Spirit of the Game and self-officiating, even at the highest levels of competition.
Spirit of the Game is the fundamental structure that preaches fair-mindedness, respect, and inclusion, and is one of the many aspects of Ultimate Frisbee that make it entirely unique from other sports. For many, it is the reason why they choose to play and why the sport has grown so quickly. While Spirit of the Game is the most important tenet of Ultimate, there remains a lot of work to equalize the playing field and ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, orientation, socio-economic status, or race, has the opportunity to play. Super Bloom aims to address that goal specifically through an investment of time, funds, and manpower to reach historically marginalized communities.
Ultimate has grown in popularity primarily by being played at universities and colleges, and post-educationally as a club sport, which has both national and international divisions and tournaments. A professional men's league has existed since 2010, but up until recently, there has not been an opportunity to play the sport professionally as a womxn.
This year, San Diego Super Bloom is one of 7 teams participating in the inaugural season of the Western Ultimate League (WUL). We are committed to providing a platform for the top womxn* in our sport to play professionally and establish connections with the community to develop future generations of players. Our community outreach will include players running clinics and working with other organizations to promote inclusion and growth of womxn and girls in sports.
We look forward to seeing you at our games, community events, and social media! Additionally, we recognize that not everyone has the means to contribute financially; we value all types of support that we receive, including people helping to get the word out about this campaign.
Please feel free to share this on social media, with fellow ultimate groups, and more!

*We use the word womxn to signify that the WUL and San Diego Super Bloom welcome all women, trans and cis, as well as non-binary folks.

Super Bloom will receive all the necessary paperwork for future donations to be tax-deductible by the time the season starts in late March!
