The San Diego Afghan Refugees Aid Group (SDARAG) is an exemplary model of concerned individuals coming together for a worthy cause. We are consisted of community volunteers (Afghans & non-Afghans) who are passionate about giving back to our communities and helping the newly arriving Afghan families here in San Diego.

 

We are a group of over 100 volunteers and growing. Our goal is to help the newly arrived families/individuals with Welcome/Care packages, hot meals, fresh groceries, and clothing. With the help of our volunteers, we have already assisted 407 Afghan refugee families, more than approximately 2,000 individuals (and counting) with above essential items and we are planning and preparing to assist many more.

 

Beyond those tangible items, we also provide translation services, taking the new arrivals to their medical and school appointments, and accommodating other miscellaneous needs.

 

There are more thousands of Afghan refugees heading to San Diego to be settled and the biggest hurdle they will be facing is the concern of housing. Until the resettlement agencies find them a place to live on a relatively longer/permanent basis, they will be staying in motels and/or other places in that transitional period. We rely heavily on your donations to enable us to help these families/individuals essential services during this crucial phase.
