Help Sam Pee Like a Champ!

Our cat Sam is a lover, a truly sweet boy. He and his brother are the joys of our lives, and he's sick. Today he had to go in for an emergency surgery to save his life, and we are going to do everything we can to help him.  He's been emergency hospitalized for urinary crystals three times in the last three years. Boy cats are susceptible to blockage, and if left untreated, it can be fatal in just 24-48 hours. Both our cats have had this issue, but Sammy is the most vulnerable right now. Treatment catheterization, IV fluids, urine and blood tests, and a minimum of 2-3 days of vet observation. While the solution should be as simple as switching his food to a prescription formula, we've tried several times with no success. This most recent time he starved himself down to jutting hip bones, eating just enough each day so that he could survive, but not thrive. This cat refuses to help us help himself! Even the vet has agreed we've run out of non-surgical options. Our last hope to avoid even more expensive multi-day hospitalizations is to perform a surgical widening of his urethra called a Penile Urectomy. Unfortunately, this costs thousands of dollars that we just don't have, but having our boy suffer isn't an option either. This is where we ask for help. Any donations we get, even if we can't raise enough funds to cover the surgery and aftercare completely, will be immensely appreciated. We have Care Credit, but my husband's temp job ends in a few weeks and the $3,000+ in recent emergency vet bills and surgery we had to charge couldn't come at a worse time as I also recently had surgery that has cost hundreds out of pocket. We know Sam has brought joy to many people, both online and in real life with his sweet, pretty boy charm. He gives so much love to all who give him a few minutes to come to you on his own terms, and now he needs help. If you can, we would all be very grateful.
