In Loving Memory of Samuel Murti

Dear friends,
As you already heard, our friend Anne just lost her dad, Samuel Murti (Om Murti), on October 28, 2014. He was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer last year. The doctor was able to remove the tumor through surgery and he was getting stronger and pretty much got back to doing his normal routine...until recently. A couple of weeks ago, the doctor diagnosed Om Murti with congestive heart failure and feared that the cancer has metastisized to his liver. Due to his age and lowered immune system, the doctor did not recommend surgery or cancer treatment. Prognosis was that he was given less than 6 months to live. But, his health took a drastic turn for the worst right after that so his passing is still a shock for Anne and her family.
I have known Om Murti, Tante Ita, and Anne since I was 12 years old. Om and Tante always did their best to provide for their children's needs. And Oom Murti was Mr. Mom! He cooked, cleaned, went grocery shopping, and basically took care of all the household matters. I still remember the bickering and lectures he and Anne used to get into during those rebelious teen years! :) He truly loved his familly and served them with all of his heart.
I am also proud of Anne for making the sacrifices necessary to care for her dad (and mom) 24/7 and bravely making many difficult decisions. Those who know Anne would agree that she is kind, generous, and often puts others' needs before her own. Anne and her family have gone through rough times (physically and financially) these last couple of years. Let's show her that we care and that she does not have to face this trial alone.
THIS is where all of us can take a part and help ease some of those burdens. We decided to create this fundraiser page to help cover funeral expenses and other needs as Anne and Tante Ita adjust to life without their dad and husband.
