The Florence Academy of Art - July

      As I was exploring possibilities for continuing my education after high school, I discovered the Florence Academy of Art.  This academy is internationally known as the pinnacle in traditional art school ateliers. It is one of the best places in the world to study art and has a painting program that is unmatched anywhere else. 

     However, an academy with such a high resume cannot let everyone in who applies. The entire Florence academy consists of only 100 students. In addition to the exceptional training I will receive, this summer workshop will give me an advantage over other applicants when applying to the academy after high school. I will be meeting some of the academy’s core instructors, along with taking a class from the director of advanced painting.  I will have an advantage when submitting my improved portfolio after spending a month painting at the academy.  This style of learning requires a large amount of hard work and dedication. This workshop will give me enough of a taste to see if this is a right fit for me after high school.
 
      I hope to gain the knowledge of how the Florence Academy of Art (FAA) teaches. My goal is to attend FAA full time upon graduating from Blanchet Catholic.  As well as determining if the academy is the right fit for me, I hope to become a familiar face and a recognizable name. When I apply to the academy, I will have an advantage over the other applicants. It is an extremely competitive process to get into the academy and only a handful get selected each year. By attending this workshop, I will have a more specialized portfolio for what the judges will be looking for. I hope to gain a lot of technical skills which I can implement into every future piece I create and spend many hours in the studio each day to make sure that this intense training is the right fit for me.
