Sam's Fight with Aplastic Anemia

Donation protected
On the 28th of April Sam was admitted to emergency because she had a nose bleed that wouldnt stop, it ended up lasting 5 days. during these 5 days Sam had a bone marrow aspiration which lead to her being diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia- a condition where her immune system is attacking her bone marrow which is causing it to stop producing blood cells, due to this Sam has to have Blood transfusions weekly and Platelet transfusions 2-3 times a week.

The prefered treatment for Aplastic Anemia is a Bone Marrow Transplant, but at this point Sam does not have a relative match or a match on the global registry.

Since being diagnosed Sam has had an additional 2 trips to hospital in addition to transfusions, one for bleeding gums and the other to start a 2 week long treatment called ATG Immune Suppressant Therapy. This therapy brings Sam's immune system right down so it is making it hard for Sam to do her normal work load or do normal day to day tasks.
