Sammy the Rescue Dog's Liver Fund

Our beloved five year old dog Sammy went in for routine bloodwork on October 31st when we discovered his liver levels were extremely elevated. His ALT should be under 100 and it came in at 683. After a round of antibiotics and medicated dog food, it had gone up another 100 points. More bloodwork and a round of xrays later, it was determined he needed an ultrasound. The ultrasound thankfully showed no mass in his abdomen and two syringe aspirates of his liver and gallbladder were taken and sent off to the lab at the University of Tennessee. 

After more bloodwork, it has been determined he needs a liver biopsy. Yesterday his ALT rang in at 784 and a larger sample is needed to see if he actually has some sort of autoimmune disease where his body is attacking his liver for no reason. He's scheduled for a biopsy on Tuesday, December 5th. I asked the vet to ballpark the cost... that ballpark was $3000. 

Let me tell you about Sammy. He's the gentlest, kindest, sweetest spirited dog I've ever met. If you're upset, he knows it. He'll hop on the couch next to you and offer you his paw. He wants to help people that are hurting, emotionally. In 2013 I lost my mom suddenly, and 6 months later lost my grandmother. I got Sammy two weeks later. This dog was a huge part of how I didn't spiral into a deep and dark depression. He makes me laugh every day and anyone who meets him instantly falls in love. I know all animals are special but Sammy is just so, so special.  He deserves to have an answer to why his liver is so inflamed-- he deserves to know what treatment we can give him to live a long and healthy life. He saved me emotionally and I owe this to him.

Anything helps. Everything is appreciated. I just need help offsetting these costs. I am forever indebted to the generosity and kindness of friends and strangers for helping us during this stressful time.
