Sammy Silich – 5k for the Ability Experience

My name is Sammy Silich and I am a current senior at the University of Miami.

To fill you in, I am the current philanthropy chair for my fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi. Each semester, Pi Kappa Phi supports a national organization called The Ability Experience, which is an independent nonprofit dedicated to aiding the 40 million citizens living with disabilities across the United States. The Ability Experience works to create a community where the abilities of all people are equally recognized and valued. Our chapter is honored to be able to support an organization that is dedicated to raising awareness, fundraising, volunteering, and promoting the message that disability does not mean inability. The University of Miami chapter of Pi Kappa Phi was the 3rd highest-raising chapter in the country last year - totaling over $17,000. We always look to improve our fundraising efforts, and with your help, we hope to meet and exceed this year’s goal of $20,000.

As the philanthropy chair, I am starting the first annual Pi Kappa 5k, which will be a 5k around the University of Miami Campus for those with mental disabilities, with all funds donated toward the Ability Experience.
