Sammi needs our help!

Early in the morning, on October 21st, Sammi experienced something we now know to be a Spinal AVM. This very complex medical phenomenon has left her paralyzed from her chest down. Sammi remains in Foothills hospital in Calgary and is receiving the expert care of a team of neurosurgeons who are working to determine next steps.
Today our Sammi began rehabilitation. With this move and due to the words of the vascular neurosurgeon, we are all coming to believe that although Sammi will no doubt live the life of adventure she always wanted, she will likely do it in a wheelchair. (With that said, we are not giving up hope for some improvement, but we are so grateful to have our Sammi . . . and she is whole and wonderful and funny and smart and just as awesome as ever with or without a wheelchair!)
Now to the reason for this page. Sammi and her incredibly dedicated parents are in Calgary and will potentially need to be there for months while she endures intensive physiotherapy and training on how to function in her new reality. It’s going to be a long and expensive road. The expenses for Cheri and Tony are already piling up, not to mention Sammi is going to need a lot of specialized equipment.
Sammi has always been that kid who thinks of others, who gives everything she’s got and who lights up a room with positivity. I’d say she’s been a collector of good karma her whole life and now it’s time for her to collect! Please help in any way you can.
