I made this gofund me account for my dad, Sambo.
A little background,
He went to the ER at the begining of December with what the ER thought was a stroke. After testing, results came out that he actually had 3 tumors in his brain which were what caused his symptoms. Unfortunately, the tumors were cancer.
He had surgery at Moffitt Cancer Center that week to remove the tumors from his brain. The surgery was a success! But the pathology of the tumors showed that they were the most aggressive type of brain cancer with a high recurrence rate.
Cancer treatment needs to be aggresive in order to reduce his chances of a recurrence in the brain tumors. He will start radiation and chemotherapy in January. He will be having radiation for a few months and chemotherapy for up to a year.
Unfortunately cancer therapy is very expensive. He will be receiving radiation 5 times a week and doing chemo daily. Just one chemo pill runs over $400, let alone the cost of the radiation.
There is a radiation helmet that is believed to improve survival rates for this type of brain cancer. He would have to wear the helmet up to 18 hours a day for a few months. The helmet is still under study, so his medical insurance will not cover it. One month alone of the helmet costs over $20,000. I would love for my father to be able to have all of the treatment possible to enhance his prognosis.
Everyone that knows Sambo, knows what an amazing and giving man he is. He is such an asset to the community. Any support is greatly appreciated, whether via donation or prayers.
