Help Me Continue My Road To Recovery

Donation protected
I am going to explain why I am reaching out on GoFundMe. To do so, I have to go back a few years in order to properly tell my story.  On March 13, 2008, I decided to buy a motorcycle. The next day, my life changed forever. On the afternoon of March 14, I decided to ride my bike to my boyfriend’s construction site for lunch.  The wind was blowing at 40mph that day, and I had no business being on the bike.  On my way home from having lunch, the wind blew me head-on into an eighteen-wheeler.  With the help of many medical professionals both at the site of the accident, during the airlift to the hospital, multiple surgeons and mostly by the grace of God, I was given a second chance.  The next three years of my life were dark.  I lost everything I had ever worked for.  All of it gone, faster than I could blink my eye.  But, after enduring through this hard time, things started to look up in the fall of 2011.

In August 2011, I began a new journey in my life.  I was officially a college student at Forsyth Technical Community College.  I enrolled in the Broadcasting and Production Technology – Radio Diploma program.  It is then that I found my true passion.  My life changed in so many ways that year and I couldn't be more thankful.  Working two jobs and going to school full-time was tough, but I loved every minute of it.  When I graduated in May of 2012 with a 4.0, it hit me that I wanted to continue my education because it gave me goals.  I returned to Forsyth Tech in the fall of 2012 to get my Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Broadcasting and Production Technology and add the skills needed for television/video production.  I am happy to say I completed my degree in May 2013 with a 4.0. While I was attending Forsyth Tech, I competed in the state Skills USA competitions for audio/radio production and television/video production and won 1st place for both.  I also won 1st place at the Skills USA National competition in Kansas City.  By winning the National competition, I was awarded a full academic scholarship to the Academy for Media Production in Gettysburg, PA.  AMP is a school that specializes in LIVE sound and was something I was definitely excited to learn.  I completed school at AMP in the spring of 2014.  After completing my schooling at AMP in the spring of 2014, I applied and was accepted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  At the time, school was my number one priority, because without it I had nothing.

On March 14th of this year, exactly 9 years since my motorcycle accident, I had a total shoulder replacement.  My left arm had been immobile for 9 years, so the shoulder replacement was a huge blessing.  I had been attending physical therapy twice a week up until I graduated on the 14th of May.  Due to financial reasons, my physical therapy sessions had to be cut back to once a week.  Dr. Creighton, the surgeon who did my shoulder replacement, said that my operation was a unique case.  I still cannot lift my arm up, but it is better than what it was before the operation.  It is very important that I continue physical therapy, but I have found myself in a bind.  If I don’t pay off what I owe, we are going to have to stop the physical therapy all together.  The next step in my recovery is a high fluid injection in my left shoulder, which is a procedure that my surgeon hopes will help with my mobility issues.  I hate asking for help, but I am at the point where I actually need it.  I guess I have always had the fear that people wouldn’t support my cause.  If you are able, I would greatly appreciate the help.  If not, could you please share my GoFundMe page with friends and family.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart and God Bless You All!
