Samantha Hooten: ER Nurse and Covid Survivor

As an ER Nurse, Samantha has been fighting COVID on the frontlines since day 1. This past week, we nearly lost her to it.
As many of you know, Samantha has been in the ICU, fighting for her life against COVID and a severe infection. When she collapsed at home last Tuesday, her twins called their Gigi and said “please come, mommy is really sick and her lips aren’t pink anymore”. Her condition continued to rapidly decline at the hospital. Within 24 hours she was intubated, and additional major medical intervention and surgeries were required to keep her alive. She finally turned a corner and was removed from the ventilator on Saturday.
For those who don’t know her, I’ll do my best to describe. Samantha is compassionate, beautiful, fun, funny, kind, creative, genuine, super smart, and hard-working. She has her RN, BSN and is currently enrolled in the Masters Program at TWU for her Nurse Practitioner License. She’s a wife, mom to precious 10 yo twins, daughter, sister and friend.
We created this fundraiser to help Samantha and her family with living expenses. She has a long road of recovery ahead from COVID and the 2 major abdominal surgeries.
