On 12/13/17 around 6:05 pm Samantha Cardenas was headed home after completing her 1st semester of college in Alpine Tx, she was 10 min from her home in Lubbock Tx, when Samantha was hit head on by a another car that came into her lane, her car flipped and landed upright. By the grace of God Sam was rushed to UMC where they saved her life. Sam was in surgical ICU for 10 days where she underwent 7 major surgeries. Sam had internal injuries, a ruptured main artery, lacerations to her right knee, right femur fracture, lacerations to her left calf, open left femur fracture and a shattered left hip every bone in her hip area was fractured, along with loosing 6 pints of blood in route to the hospital. A couple of weeks after her 12 hour hip surgery she had an 8th surgery for an infection on her left hip surgical incisions.
Samantha still hasn’t made it home, she’s currently inpatient at Trustpoint she still needs 4-8 weeks of inpatient care. She improves everyday, her faith is strong she knows God’s not done with her. No matter the hills nor mountains that have been placed in front of Sam she continues to grab God’s hand and hasn’t given up.
Her Mom Theresa Cardenas & Dad Mark Cardenas have not left her side since Samantha’s accident, it takes round the clock care for her. Currently Sam’s learning to use a wheelchair and hopefully soon maybe crutches!! Of course then praying to walk and run one day.
This go fund me page is for anyone generous enough to help Sam’s parents continue to stay by Samantha’s side as she makes a full recovery.
Samantha is a great person, she is loved by all her family & friends her love for animals is what has her in college “Wildlife management & conservation” She studies hard & made the deans list, even though she’s missing this semester she’s still considered a Sophomore in college due to her working so hard her Sr. year in high school with duel credits. Sam also donates her xtra time in Lubbock at the Grace Pit-bull Rescue running the dogs. If you can’t donate, pray for our Sam! She needs all the prayers she can get Thank you to everyone who has already donated & prayed & is praying!! God Bless You All
