Sam's Fight against Triple Negative Cancer
Samantha Kirk is a young 30 year old woman recently diagnosed with a rare form of Triple Negative Metaplastic Breast Cancer. Less than 1% of breast cancers are Triple Negative Metaplastic.
After her initial aggressive chemotherapy failed she is now being treated at MD Anderson, Houston TX. She has been entered into a clinical trial program to try to target her cancer therapy.
Her cancer is so rare that there are no effective standard types of treatment.
Her insurance is covering most of her medical costs at this time since meeting her catastrophic cap for the year.
However her treatment has required her and family members to stay in Houston for almost a month. Now she will have to travel WEEKLY with a caregiver to Houston 400 miles away for treatments. Out of pocket costs for lodging and necessities have been a tremendous extra burden on her. The treatment is expected to last for months.
There is no way she can afford expenses incurred for travel, lodging and other out of pocket costs alone.
