Samantha's Medical Fund
We at Lee's Pint & Shell, a restaurant located in Baltimore, MD - Canton area, want to help Sam after she was the victim of an assault, right in front of her house, in Baltimore City. We are donating money to assist in her trying time and have set up this gofundme to ask for your kindness and donations as well.
Sam is an Assistant Manager at Lee's Pint & Shell. On January 6th, 2018, Sam left the Canton Square where she was out with some friends and took an uber home, located not far from the restaurant in Canton. She went inside briefly and then back out to briefly let her dog do his doggie business. She was approached by a single male, who asked for money. Sam explained she didn't have anything on her at all, as she was just walking her dog. Sam pleaded with the assailant, that she was being honest and even turned her pockets inside out, showing she didn't have any money or even anything of value on her.
This assailant then punched Sam in her face, with a very hard hit, knocking her down. Sam was not knocked out, but recognized she was hit very hard. The assailant ran off. Sam noticed a great deal of blood from her face, and initially didn't even know she was cut. It seems she was hit with a razor or box cutter, or some sharp weapon, opening a deep gash running from just under her eye, and down almost the length of her cheek.
Sam was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital where she received care and was stitched up in the ER, by the on duty physician.
Sam is a valuable part of our team and family here at Lee's and we are starting this effort to help raise money for two things:
1. To give directly to Sam for her lost wages and future medical expenses surrounding the proper treatment of this major injury. (90% of funds raised)
2. Make a contribution to the Canton Community Association, funding specifically countering violent crime in our community. We have already been in contact with Dan Tracey, with the CCA, and we intend on being very instrumental in the effort to develop and maintain an action plan surrounded around not only awareness, but also combating these violent crimes and ensuring the safety of our neighbors. (10% of funds raised)
