Help Sam go to AU's Summer Program

Hi everybody:

My name is Samuel Minor and I have recently been accepted to American University's "Discover the World of Communication" Summer Program.

I would really appreciate your donations to help me pay for the program. At American University, I will take classes on communication, animation, and journalism. I'll also get the chance to experience what it would be like to go to college. Please watch my video to hear my story.

At this summer program, I will learn about animation production and animation techniques. I am also taking a course called "Backpack Journalism." In that class, I get to pitch an idea, shoot a video, write a story, and record a news piece.

This is the only time I will ask for donations because I didn't have enough time this year to save up the money. I moved to Virginia from Chicago less than six months ago and turned my life around. In future summers, I will have more time to work during the school year to save up.

Josh and Julie (my parents) have started me off with $200 towards my goal and will match anything I contribute myself. I work 8 hours a week during the school year as a bus boy at Scion Restaurant. School is over on June 18th and then I will be working 5 days a week. Unfortunately, the camp begins on July 1st so I have limited time to save up. AU will extend my payment deadline to June 28, 2013.

After the summer program, I will design a thank you card and send it to each person who donates. I will also provide an update on what I learned at American University.
