<div>El Axolote de los Volcanes (Ambystoma leorae) es un anfibio en peligro crítico de extinción (UICN). Se distribuye únicamente en dos arroyos en todo el mundo; Tula y Río Frío, ubicados entre los volcanes Telapón y Tláloc en la Sierra Nevada, al oriente de la Ciudad de México. Esta temporada de secas 2024 ¡ha dejado de correr agua en segmentos del arroyo de Tula! La sección en la que se distribuyen los axolotes está seca en su mayoría, solo quedan unas cuantas pozas con agua en las que sobreviven menos de 100 axolotes. Con tu apoyo ayudarás a salvar de la extinción a los axolotes de esta población ya que podremos monitorear constantemente sus pozas para que mantengan  condiciones para su sobrevivencia, así como reubicar a estos sitios a los axolotes que encontremos y lo necesiten.

<div>The Volcano Axolotl (Ambystoma leorae) is a critically endangered amphibian (IUCN). It is distributed in only two streams worldwide, Tula and Río Frío, located between the volcanoes Telapón and Tláloc, in the Sierra Nevada, east of Mexico City. Current 2024 dry season, segments of the Tula stream has stopped flowing! The stream segment in which the axolotls are distributed is mostly dry, there are only a few pools of water left in which less than 100 axolotls survive. With your support you will help save the axolotls of this population from extinction because we will be able to constantly monitor their pools to maintain the conditions for their survival, as well as relocate to these sites the axolotls we find and that need it.

<div>Monitoreo: Recorridos constantes para evaluar las condiciones de las pozas en las que sobreviven los axolotes y reubicar a los que estén en pozas muy pequeñas y en riesgo de secarse. Hacer conteos de individuos.

<div>Restauración: Mantener los niveles de agua de las charcas en las que están los axolotes de ser necesario. Mantener al ganado en sitios que no interfieran con los axolotes. Construcción de un cercado para proteger a crías de axolotes

<div>Educación Ambiental: Exposición de fotografías y charlas con las personas de la comunidad de Río Frío acerca de la importancia del cuidado del agua, el bosque y su biodiversidad, con énfasis en su axolote.

<div>Vigilancia: Recorridos para detectar cualquier actividad que pueda perjudicar a las poblaciones de axolotes.

<div>The resources requested are to pay for the wages of local people from the Conservation Group of the community of Río Frío, in Ixtapaluca, Edo. Mex. With your support we will be able to carry out:

<div>Monitoring: Constant monitoring to evaluate the conditions of the ponds in which axolotls survive and relocate axolotls that are in very small ponds and at risk of drying up. Counts of individuals.

<div>Restoration: Maintain water levels in ponds where axolotls are present if necessary. Keep livestock in safe places that do not interfere with axolotls.
