From time to time people tell me "relax, it's just a dog" or "it's a lot of money that you're going to waste just for a dog", or, “it’s just a pet.” They don't understand how far we’ve come and the time spent, or the costs incurred by "just one dog." Some of my proudest moments have occurred with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed being my only company "just a dog", who has really been loyal, accompanying me, when I most needed company, yes! "just a dog" but not for a single moment did I feel despised, rejected, criticized or judged. Some of my saddest moments have been for "just a dog", such as what I am living now in these moments and in those gray days, the gentle touch of "only a dog" gave me the comfort and the reason to overcome the day. Yes! Thanks to "just a dog" my Galileo.
If you too think "it's just a dog" then you will probably not understand phrases like "just a friend", "just a sunrise" or "just a promise". "Just a Dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure, unbridled joy. "Just a Dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
For "just a dog" I will get up early, take long walks, and look forward to the future. So for me, and for people like me, it is not "just a dog", or just a simple pet, but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the memories of the past, and the utter joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out the good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and everyday worries.
I hope that one day they can understand that it is not “just a dog”, but that which gives me humanity and prevents me from being “just a human”. So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog," just smile because they "just don't understand."
To all of you who get it, “just a dog” means to us another family member, like a child, depending on us for unconditional love and care. I can’t ever look at Galileo as “just a dog”. It’s like part of me would be gone, if I knew who no longer exists, because he is being treated as “just a dog”. Taking Galileo’s life would be like taking the life of any one I love!

Muchas horas han pasado siendo mi única compañía“ sólo un perro”, a sido quien realmente a estado acompañándome lealmente cuando más e necesitado compañía, si! "solo un perro" pero ni por un sólo instante me sentí despreciada, rechaza criticada o juzgada. Algunos de mis momentos más tristes han sido por “sólo un perro”,como por ejemplo lo que estoy viviendo ahora en estos momentos y en esos días grises, el suave toque de “sólo un perro” me dio el confort y la razón para superar el día. Sí! Gracias a "solo un perro" mi Galileo.
Si tú también piensas que “es sólo un perro”, entonces probablemente entenderás frases como “sólo un amigo”, “sólo un amanecer” o “sólo una promesa”. “Sólo un perro” trae a mi vida la esencia misma de la amistad, la confianza y la alegría pura y desenfrenada. “Sólo un perro” saca a relucir la compasión y paciencia que hacen de mí una mejor persona.
Por “sólo un perro” me levantaré temprano, haré largas caminatas y miraré con ansias el futuro. Así que para mí, y para personas como yo, no es “sólo un perro”, o solo una simple mascota, sino una encarnación de todas las esperanzas y los sueños del futuro, los recuerdos del pasado, y la absoluta alegría del momento. “Sólo un perro” saca lo bueno en mi y desvía mis pensamientos lejos de mí misma y de las preocupaciones diarias.
Espero que algún día puedan entender que no es “sólo un perro”, sino aquello que me da humanidad y evita que yo sea “sólo un humano”. Así que la próxima vez que escuches la frase es “sólo un perro”, simplemente sonríe porque ellos “simplemente no comprenden”.
