Asalamu Alaykum hope you are all well. On May 4th, we’ll be participating in the Birmingham Great Run Half Marathon event running 10k to raise urgent funds for those suffering in Sudan and Somalia—two nations facing catastrophic humanitarian crises.

In Somalia, the combined effects of years of drought, conflict, and economic instability have pushed millions into crisis. Currently, 3.4 million people are facing hunger at crisis levels with this number expected to rise to 4.4 million by June 2025. Among those affected, 1.7 million children under the age of five are suffering from acute malnutrition.

Since conflict broke out in Sudan in April 2023, the country has experienced a severe humanitarian crisis. Over 14 million people have been displaced, and more than 20,000 individuals have lost their lives due to violence. The situation is particularly dire for children, with 16 million in need of urgent assistance, and 1.3 million at risk of famine. Additionally, widespread outbreaks of cholera, dengue, and malaria have overwhelmed the healthcare system, contributing to its collapse.

All donations will be evenly split between Sudan and Somalia and be given to the Human Appeal that can help with food packages and clean water.
