CLEFT and Women for Women Refugees

I will be raising money for SmileTrain, a charity that provides free cleft palate surgery to those that can not easily access healthcare across the world. This condition is when there is a gap in the lip, the palate, or sometimes both which leads to physical, psychological and social implications that can not be underestimated. Constant hospital visits are necessary to assess their speech, hearing, ability to feed and as they develop, extensive dental care is needed. They are also taught ways to deal with the stigma associated with not looking "normal" alongside clinical psychologists.
This is a lot of trauma for a child to endure straight out of the womb and for many years after, so research in associated genetic/environmental factors and the best treatment mechanisms, are exceptionally important to minimise it's incidence and help raise these children to become strong minded individuals.

I'm going to be raising money for Women for Refugee Women, an organisation whose sole purpose is to help women who seek refuge in the UK, in attempt to escape from persecution. Most of them have experienced rape or sexual violence, some have been trafficked to this country and some have fled vicious conflicts. They are all longing to find a safe place to rebuild their lives.
The organisation provides a space for these women to support one another, eat together and learn English. They enable refugee and asylum-seeking women, who are so often unseen and unheard, to build their confidence and communication skills in order to tell their own stories. They also publish research and works with policy makes in order to try to build a fairer asylum process in the UK.
Any donations would be welcomed and much appreciated on a topic close to my heart and passion.
We will be doing the epic route (200k) in Worcestershire on the 2nd of June
